Nerdy stuff about how all the math happened, if you care
- What the hell are all these numbers?
-
Final score Normalized style score + Normalized mileage score Normalized style score ((team.style_score)*50)/highest_style_score Normalized mileage score ((team.net_mileage - lowest_net_mileage)*50)/ (highest_net_mileage - lowest_net_mileage) Style score total points from the voting Break down The five comma delimited numbers indicate how many 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, 4th place, and 5th place votes were received, in that order. Net mileage End mileage - start mileage - What is that normalizing business about?
- Since there can be large range of possibilities for both mileage and number of votes, normalizing to a fixed point system of 50, makes a more consistent and comparable results set both within each rally, and in contrast with other rallies.
- How are the vote points calculated?
-
Each vote counts for a possible amount of points based on the table below, adding to a total of 15 maximum points one team can give out.
Vote Points 1st place 5 pts 2nd place 4 pts 3rd place 3 pts 4th place 2 pts 5th place 1 pts To make the voting fair between teams with two members and teams with a lot more members, each team can only contribute the maximum 15 possible points, not 15 times number of members. Each vote from a team member is calculated by the formula: (possible points value of the vote)/(number of members from your team, including you, that casted a vote of that type)
